ACA is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Robert Carr Civil Society Networks Fund. This new and exciting project adds to ACA’s portfolio of projects focused on underserved populations.
In recognition of the unique contextual challenges facing various key-population groups in the region, the project will seek to improve the quality, effectiveness, relevance and equity of AIDS responses reaching Inadequately Served Populations (ISPs). This two-year project (Jan 2014- Dec 2015) will be implemented in three countries (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania) and will achieve four main outcomes:
I) Improved technical and institutional capacity of regional and national networks and their memberships
II) Enhanced HIV response implementation by ISPs across the full spectrum of prevention, treatment, care and support services
III) Fulfillment of basic Human rights, mainly through advocacy
IV)Resource accountability for the HIV response.
ACA will implement this project in collaboration with its Member Institution NOPE (National Organization of Peer Educators) and strategic partner FIDA (Federation of Women Lawyers) Kenya. ACA anticipates working with not less than four ISP networks that will be identified through a demand-driven process. A Project Advisory Committee (PAC) has been established to offer strategic guidance in key milestones. One of the most exciting innovations for this project will be its use of social media to spearhead advocacy campaigns. In addition, institutional capacity building efforts have been informed by ACA’s award-winning RECABASO program.
