On March 10th 2016, the Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) will be hosting a live webinar on enabling access to quality, affordable and reliable drugs and medical supplies in East and Central Africa.
The webinar will be facilitated by Dr. Jonathan Kiliko, Head of Customer Services – MEDS during which he will discuss how MEDS has been able to consistently provide reliable, quality, affordable essential medicines, medical supplies, capacity building, quality control and other pharmaceutical services to health facilities and health workers in Kenya and in the wider sub-Saharan region. He will share MEDS’ successes, challenges, lessons learned, business models to emulate when setting up supply chain organizations, need for public-private partnerships in the health sector and plans for growth in East Africa and beyond.
MEDS is one of Africa’s leading medical supply chain and support organizations. Its’ success is driven by committed staff and their zeal to provide reliable, quality, affordable essential medicines, medical supplies, capacity building and quality control laboratory services. MEDS does this by putting customer service first, operating responsibly, applying innovative technologies, seizing new opportunities and subscribing to Christian values. The organization is involved in virtually every facet of the pharmaceutical industry; providing medicines and medical supplies to over 2,000 corporate clients not only in Kenya but also in the wider East and Central Africa region.
The organization is involved in virtually every facet of the pharmaceutical industry; providing medicines and medical supplies to over 2,000 corporate clients not only in Kenya but also in the wider East and Central Africa region. In support of human resources for health, MEDS offers capacity building programmes for health workers and has trained over 25,000 health professionals since 1987. In the fight against counterfeits and substandard drugs, the organization analyzes medicines in its World Health Organization (WHO) prequalified laboratory prior to stocking and distribution.
Since its inception in 1986, when MEDS only served church health units, the organization has grown to touch lives of millions of people through other faith based health facilities, public and private health facilities, learning institutions, non-governmental and community based organizations. Backed by its solid experience, capacity, wide distribution network and extensive geographical reach, MEDS is the preferred partner in the provision of healthcare services in the East and Central Africa region and has stood out as ‘A World Class Faith Based Medical Supply Chain and Capacity Building Organization.’ MEDS celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year, 2016. Let us join them in congratulating them for this major milestone.
